ALAMEDA, Calif., September 9, 2006 - The City of Alameda’s Development Services Department, in conjunction with Alameda Power & Telecom, has produced a half-hour documentary on the historic Alameda Theater, entitled “Let’s Go To The Movies: Restoring Alameda’s Movie Palace.” The show, which will air on AP&T’s public access network, Channel 31, will touch upon the theater’s history, as well as plans for its renovation. “There was such overwhelming response to the guided tours of the theater, that we wanted to find a way to reach a broader audience,” explained Jennifer Ott, Development Manager with the City. Jennifer was responsible for the schedule of building tours which took place in December of last year and continued into January 2006. “Once people have a visual exposure to the building’s architectural significance, they understand the efforts being undertaken to preserve it as a functioning theater.”
