On January 22nd, 2004, Alameda Power & Telecom was proud to sponsor the world premiere of PlayBall! - Alameda's Sandlot Saga. This documentary film, produced and directed by Alameda native Kin Robles, debuted at the Auctions By The Bay Art Deco Movie Palace at Alameda Point on January 22nd at 8 pm. The film showing was preceded by a reception at 7 pm. All ticket proceeds from this event went to support Alameda's Friends of the Parks. A Fun Fund Raising EventPlayball! is the story of a simpler time when kids played baseball for the sheer love of the game. Using photographs and rare film never before seen by the public, "PlayBall!" tells the story of how the Alameda Recreational Parks Department tee-shirt league embodied the ideals of a community.
