Film Notes

Going Out of My Head
A disembodied female head floating in a bowl. A hideous monster locked a closet. The head develops telepathic powers that let her communicate with the hidden monster.

It's 1962 and what we have is the pre-feminist exploration of women who are not in control of their own bodies. Dr Bill wishes to build Jan a body of his own design. Jan chooses the uncontrollable, unthinking beast that will change the relationship between them forever.

"The Pill", the sexual revolution, and the feminist movement were just a few short explosive years away. The Brain That Wouldn't Die is a cinematic voice crying in the wilderness.

Ingmar Ozu-Bresson on The Brain that Wouldn't Die

"La science américaine rencontre les enfers sexuels américains. Des filmes de genres, celui-ci est la bombe atomique pliée sur la destruction de toute la pensée raisonnable dans son chemin fou."

("American science meets the American sexual underworld. This is the Atomic Bomb of "B" movies bent on destroying all rational thought in its mad path.")
