Discover New Music

The Bay Area has got a lively Open Mic Music scene. Slim Critchlow captures the wide variety of acts in San Francisco, the East Bay and beyond.

Since October of 2006 Slim has filmed Open Mics in Marin, San Francisco, the East Bay and the South Bay, including an Open Mic tour across the USA in the Fall of 2007 which included Chicago, New York, Pittsburg, Louisville and Kansas City.

Slim is now picking the best performances from all those dates and creating the shows you will see here. To find out more about any of the artists in these shows go to TheOpenMic.Net and check out the profiles page.

Background

In the summer of 2006 Slim Critchlow lost a lifelong friend and musical collaborator, Bob Furber. Slim and Bob met at a recording studio in East Oakland CA during the Bay Area music scene of the mid 70's. After a month or so of reflecting upon their relationship, Slim decided as a tribute to his friend and the family he left behind, to document up and coming musicians in the current Bay Area music scene.
