The Wisdom of Sanatana Dharma
Stories from Ancient India comprise an anthology of the wisdom of the Sanatana Dharma -- the eternal Ideal of Perfection, a repository of the folklore of ancient India, and a modern day application of the classical teachings of wisdom. This collection represents a small bucket drawn from the immense ocean of wisdom.
Stories, Epics, Events All Tied Together
The stories originated from the Vedas and Upanishads, were amplified in the Puranas, enhanced through the epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata, and explained in both the Shrimad Bhagavat and Devi Bhagavatam.
They have been arranged into a chronology from the Satya Yuga to the beginning of the Kali Yuga, and are tied together by a lineage of events from the disappearance of Sati, the wife of Shiva, and the destruction of the God of Love, to the birth of King Janamejaya and the commencement of the Age of Darkness.
Many Levels of Meaning...and Fun!
The stories are filled with so many levels of meanings, and they are fun. The programs show Swami Satyananda Saraswati reading and explaining the stories, and commenting on how we can apply this knowledge to our daily lives.
They have been collected in a book called the Swami Purana, and you will enjoy reading them aloud, acting out the parts, and sharing this heritage with your children and friends.
